Crossing the line
We live in a world characterized by opportunities and connection, by an abundance of choices and stimuli, by great wealth and freedom…
But we also live in a world defined and constrained by lines we do not cross: the lines of the impossible, the lines of differences, the lines of fear and the lines of poverty, the lines of mistrust and intolerance, the lines of ignorance, doubt and indifference… Lines that seemingly and rarely protect, but more often imprison us. This time it is about crossing the line where there should be no lines… It is about facing real and profoundly important issues in a meaningful way with an open and solution focused mind… It is about learning from mistakes… It is about opening our eyes and seeing our world in new ways… But it is also about creativity and new ideas… New ways of combining what we already have, about finding new harmony and new ways of solving old problems… It is about breaking our well accustomed, comfortable, but ultimately toxic old patterns that do not work for us any more, and finding new ones that actually do… It is about genuinely accepting and facing our challenges and about finding better ways forward…

TED is a platform for ideas worth spreading.

Launched in 1984 as a conference where technology, entertainment and design converged, TED today shares ideas from a broad spectrum — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxDanubia, where x = independently organized TED event and 'Danubia' symbolizes the cross-border and interdisciplinary communication and thinking that we aim to achieve. At our TEDxDanubia event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
